Outbound Sales Executive [Remote]

Freelance b2B Sales Executive

The Blogsmith needs help generating and closing new leads to continue growing our business after a busy start to 2023. You’ll report to a Sales Manager and collaborate with our team to help build out our sales process and answer client questions about working with us.

We’re interested in working with an Outbound Sales Executive who is ambitious, proactive, and interested in growing a business to its full potential. Specifically,  someone who’s available every day from Monday – Friday during our normal business hours (generally 9-5am MST)  to communicate with prospects and other tasks as they come up and who can work independently to get results.

In this role, you’ll be expected to:

  • Achieve and exceed sales goals and target metrics, tracking your progress in our CRM carefully and accurately.
  • Grow a steady pipeline by proactively responding to inbound leads and generating relevant enterprise B2B technology business outbound leads by pitching relevant lead sources and reaching out to prospects that fit our target personas (including Directors of Content and Content Team Leads).
  • Conduct sales calls with prospects to present The Blogsmith’s content marketing and strategy services. You’ll be expected to use our premium Zoom account and present professionally on camera.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support sales, close deals, and push high-priority projects through — including effective handoff, post-sale. Effectively manage communication with a distributed team and deal with prospects, clients, and vendors as a kind and courteous professional.
  • Actively maintain and produce sales materials with assistance from relevant team resources.
  • Respond to team communications within 12 hours on Monday – Friday. Have consistent weekly availability during normal business hours to meet with your Sales Manager and other team members when necessary.
  • Invest time in understanding our brand and industry to properly showcase our expertise and skills as solutions to client issues.
  • Improve and streamline sales processes as we grow, including analyzing opportunities for self-improvement. You should have full cycle sales experience with everything from lead generation to appointment setting, giving proposals, and closing deals.
  • Be detail-oriented with organizational skills that promote swift follow-through, transparency, and accountability.
  • Help upsell existing clients on new projects/expanded retainer scopes by supporting current Account Managers and Content Managers.

Previous experience selling marketing agency services is desired but not required. You’ll jump to the top of our list if you also have content, marketing, or agency experience.

Soft Skill + Technical Skill Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills: You’ll be working with fellow team members and clients to accomplish tasks related to selling great content. This means being a clear, proactive communicator and champion of the client’s goals as you help prospects transition into clients. You’ll be expected to manage multiple calls and email communications on a daily basis and should be comfortable operating in front of a camera.
  • Good interpersonal skills: In addition to being able to communicate clearly, team members should be good at building and managing relationships with internal and external parties. Regardless of emotions, you will be expected to communicate as a professional with our internal team and external clients and vendors. You understand that a big part of being a great salesperson is being a great listener.
  • Professional English writing and speaking skills: Because you’ll be interfacing directly with clients and our business focuses on high-quality written communication, a mastery of professional written and verbal communication is required for this role.
  • Experience selling services: If you have agency or marketing agency experience, we want to know about it! But if you don’t have a lot of experience but you’re passionate about content marketing, please still plan to apply.
  • Write “Hi Maddy” (in addition to any questions or comments you have) at the end of the application form so that we know you’re paying attention to detail.
  • Organization/planning skills: Sales success is a function of planning and consistency. We expect you to respond to leads and sales conversations in a timely manner every workday.
  • Industry experience: You should feel comfortable chatting with B2B technology professionals as an industry insider. We recognize that each of our clients has a learning curve but the overarching industry should be familiar.
  • Tool and process proficiency: While we don’t expect you to be an expert out of the gate, we’ll expect you to become familiar with and confident using tools that include Google Workspace, HubSpot, Airtable, Slack, Process Street, and Notion. Training and support will be provided. The Blogsmith is a process-oriented company with thorough checklists for each task and role in our organization designed to make it easy to track everyone’s progress.
  • Past sales success: We’re looking for someone with some sales experience and past success with cold pitching and closing new business and will ask you to elaborate on past sales results in our application.

  • Work 100% remote.
  • Work with a flexible schedule while meeting weekday deadlines for planned assignments.
